Empathizing with Both Israel and Palestinian Victims of Violence

In 2005, 2006, 2008, I lived with Palestinians in the West Bank in the maelstrom of Jewish settler violence. I was a trained member of Christian Peacemaker Teams. We worked along with Jewish peace activists and their organizations. So I have empathy for Palestinians who suffer from violence and oppression. I also have empathy for Jews who also have suffered horrendous violent persecution, with hatred against them still prevalent. A high school English class assignment for our son Jesse was to memorize and recite a poem.
